Hydra Top is knitted in the round, from the bottom up, in a cable pattern following a chart. The work is divided at the armhole, where stitches are bound off on each side, and the front and back pieces are finished separately. Stitches are bound off for the shoulders, after which the pieces are joined again, and the neck is knitted. Finally, the shoulder stitches are sewn together.
Tension:
26 sts and 46 rows in cable pattern using 3 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm (measured after washing)
Size:
1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 (8)
Finished measurements:
Chest circumference:
69 (78) 88 (97) 102 (111) 120 (129) cm (not stretched)
Total length (from shoulder):
47 (50) 52 (55) 57 (60) 55 (57) cm
The top has a negative ease of 5-10 cm. For example, if your chest measurement is 95 cm, subtract 5-10 cm. This gives you a range of 85-90 cm, so you should knit size M, which has a chest circumference of 88 cm.
Yarn:
100 (100) 125 (125) 125 (150) 175 (175) g Cashmere from Kit Couture (25 g = 175 m)
Remember to adjust the quantities if using another yarn alternative!
Materials:
3 mm circular needle (80 or 100 cm)
3 mm circular needle (40 cm) for the neck (unless you’re using the magic loop technique)
